BENEFITS OF MASSAGE
Why Erban’s focus is on therapeutic massage?
Massage has proven beneficial effects on the human body, the most basic of which are relaxation, stress relief, and pain relief. However, massage also has benefits for nearly every body system, including:
- Improves blood circulation
- Slows respiration and reduces the heart rate
- Speeds the removal of metabolic waste, strengthens the immune system
- Helps improve muscle tone and stretches connective tissue
- Increases joint flexibility and range of motion
- Enhances the health and nourishment of the skin
- Calms the nervous system
- Enhances capacity for thinking and creativity
The medical definition of massage is “the manipulation of muscle and connective tissue to enhance the function of those tissues and promote relaxation and well-being.”

GENERAL MASSAGE INFORMATION
This is my first massage, what should I expect?
Your visit to Erban Spa will begin with completing a New Client Form – where you will be asked various health questions. Your therapist will then go through a brief, but comprehensive consultation with you in order to establish any areas of pain or sensitivity, any areas of concern needing attention and to ensure that the massage you have selected is appropriate for you.
What should I wear during the massage?
Your attire during a massage is based on your level of comfort. We will explain the process to get undressed but leave your underwear on. Your treatment will be in a darkened, candle-lit room and our therapists are professionally trained to drape you carefully in the bed clothes to protect your modesty and keep you warm.
What am I supposed to do during the massage?
Just relax! If you feel any discomfort or if there are specific areas that need to be addressed, let the therapist know. The amount of conversation is up to you – some people love to chat during a treatment, others prefer complete silence.
Is massage safe for everyone, including pregnant women?
There are some instances in which we would advise you not to have a massage, which is why we ask you inform your therapist of any health problems or medications that you may be taking. Massage is safe for women at any stage of their pregnancy. Our therapists are trained to use safe oils, techniques and to ensure your utmost comfort during your massage.
How will I feel after my massage?
Most people feel very relaxed and experience increased flexibility. Depending on the depth of your treatment, you may experience some soreness afterward. This is completely normal and should subside within a couple of days. We recommend you drink plenty of water after your treatment to ensure you flush out toxins that are released during massage therapy.
Who can benefit from receiving massage?
Anyone can enjoy the benefits of massage. Whether you are looking to relax or looking for something more therapeutic, we will help determine which treatment is best for you. Massage can help release muscular tension and pain, reduce stress, decrease mental and physical fatigue, and promote faster healing.
What is the difference between relaxation and deep tissue massage?
Relaxation massage uses a variety of techniques specifically designed to relax muscles. This is the perfect option if you simply want to rest and relax your body. Deep tissue massage focuses on the deeper layers of muscle tissue and works to release muscle tension. Your therapist will check with you throughout your treatment whether the pressure is appropriate.
